Take resolution to allow Parliament to function: PM to Cong

Noida (PTI): Attacking Congress yet again over disruptions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked the party to take a New Year resolution to allow Parliament to function for the sake of development.

He said having “enjoyed power” for over six decades it has no right to destroy its functioning for “political reasons” and hold back the country’s development.

“Tomorrow is January 1. When you are going to celebrate New Year, you should take a vow to allow Parliament to run and do its work and not pose hurdles for the country’s development,” Modi said.

He was addressing a public rally after laying foundation stone of a 14-lane expressway connecting Delhi with Meerut.

Focusing his attack primarily on Congress, Modi said, “This is the misfortune of India, Parliament where laws are made is not being allowed to function. Those who have been rejected by people seized its functioning.

“They do not allow Parliament to run. I request all these political parties not to do so. Since I have not got an opportunity to speak in Lok Sabha, I am taking the opportunity to air my views in ‘Jan Sabha’. People have sent us to Parliament to debate, discuss and decide,” he said.

The Prime Minister said Congress has more responsibility to ensure functioning of Parliament as they had “enjoyed power” for over six decades.

“It is our responsibility to accomplish the work entrusted on us by people. This responsibility specially lies on those who have ruled the country for over 60 years. They know what is the responsibility of Parliament.

“It is specially their responsibility to ensure that country’s development is not stopped because of their political reasons. They have more responsibility as people had given them opportunity to run the country for over six decades.

“I understand the anger of those who have not got a chance to rule the country. But those who have enjoyed all kinds of power for 60 years have no right to halt Parliament and destroy its functioning,” he said.

  1. Take resolution to allow Parliament to function: PM to Cong.

WHY DID THE THEN LEADERS OF THE OPPOSITION IN THE RAJYA SABHA AND THE LOK SABHA, ARUN JAITLEY AND SUSHMA SWARAJ TOLD IN THE PARLIAMENT THAT STALKING AND BLOCKING THE PARLIAMENT AND ENTERING IN THE WELL OF THE PARLIAMENT WAS THE LEGITIMATE RIGHT OF THE OPPOSITION?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH MODI NOW?

MODI SHOULD DISMOUNT FROM HIS HIGH HORSE AND SAY SORRY TO THE CONGRESS. AND THE CONGRESS SHOULD SUPPORT THEM. IF THE RSS EGO IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE NATION, LET ANY THING MAY HAPPEN TO THEM.

WE DO NOT LIKE THE SATAN TO SURMISE!

  2. Dear readers,

The BJP is no stranger to double-speak. Whether it’s on secularism, communal riots, nuclear deal, FDI, or black money, it’s always armed with two convenient stock versions. Most of its leaders can instinctively speak with a forked tongue. What’s on display now is its double-speak on corruption, impropriety, ethics and parliamentary decorum. By exposing it, the Congress has nothing to lose. Anyway, the rulebook that the parties and the parliamentarians ought to go by has long since been thrown to the wind. Now, it’s pay back time for all those years starting with the Bofors days, as we sit back and watch with absolutely no amusement.

The BJP today is accusing the Congress of obstructionism. For years, it stood guilty of the same charge.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu probably forgot the argument put forth by his own party colleagues when the United Progressive Alliance was in power and the Bharatiya Janata Party occupied the opposition benches. When successive sessions were disrupted by the BJP during the UPA regime, Sushma Swaraj, the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, had declared that “NOT ALLOWING PARLIAMENT TO FUNCTION IS ALSO A FORM OF DEMOCRACY, LIKE ANY OTHER FORM”.

Did Pravasi Minister Narendra Modi and the party which he belongs, has the right to oppose the ‘DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS OF PARLIAMENT’ which it inherited to opposition Congress? Is development of country is not an responsibility of opposition, which it blames on Congress while BJP ‘enjoying power’?

  3. This guy is busy covering all the countries in world before his term in PM &some of his ministers are busy looting the country while some other ministers busy covering them by giving controversial statements. While they were in opposition same bills they opposed now they want it to be passed.

  4. Let us face it.

No one is proud of the educational qualifications of the globetrotter. Unless the person thinks that primary school level is rocket science.

But that hasn’t stopped the globetrotter from “penning” three books. Let us believe for a moment that the ideas are all his, and his alone.

Two of them, hold your breath, are apparently on climate change.

I asked you to hold your breath, because it would be just hot air with unfriendly aroma.

As for any substance, well, the best of scientists around the world have failed to nail what climate change is all about, but the globetrotter knows the nuts and bolts of climate change.

And these books, according to today’s TOI, are meant to educate the highly educated public servants who have passed some of the most difficult exams in the country.

Their fault: they did not stand for elections. They are, after all, the staff of the Government running the country. So they need to put up with the globetrotter and his hot air for another couple of years.

One wonders why the globetrotter has written two books on climate change when one of them could have been on some workable solutions for the unbearable air pollution in New Delhi.

Is he not interested in solving the unbearable air pollution in New Delhi?

Don’t know. He is certainly not providing a helping hand to the man who won 67 seats out of 70 (for the record globetrotter’s party got just 3).

Sir, with do you realize that such statements (in the eyes of our Param Pradhana Sevaka Bhaktha – Mr. Rampa – who else?) are tantamount to sedition/perjury? 😉

Do you want to lose your hard-earned pension? :):)

  5. Modi and the BJP should tender an apology to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress for not allowing Parliament to function when the BJP was in opposition. Sushma Swaraj, then leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, had declared that “not allowing Parliament to function is also a form of democracy, like any other form”. In an article in August 2012, Jaitley had argued in favour of disruptions: “If parliamentary accountability is subverted and a debate is intended to be used merely to put a lid on parliamentary accountability, it is then a legitimate tactic for the Opposition to expose the government through parliamentary instruments available at its command.” According to Jaitley, disruption should not be described as preventing work from being done, because “what we are doing is very important work itself.”

    • Roy – “Modi and the BJP should tender an apology to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress for not allowing Parliament to function when the BJP was in opposition.”

When in the opposition, they were preaching and now they are practicing the opposite of that which they preached.

RSS preaches to others and practices the opposite for themselves.

“SARVA DHARMA SAMABHAV” IS THE IMPOSITION OF THE DHARMA OF THE MAJORITY ON THE MINORITY, BE IT THROUGH UNIFORM CIVIL LAW OR OTHERWISE!

    • Sushma Swaraj, then leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, had declared that “not allowing Parliament to function is also a form of democracy, like any other form”. – Mr. Roy

Well, when the shoe is on the other foot, ALL are crying blue-murder!

Our Pradhana Sevaka is taking ‘mounavratha’ lessons from his predecessor. ‘ना काऊँगा ना खिलाने दून्ग’ is just a slogan to please his mindless masses.

And the mindless masses JUST lap it up – like the lost Indian folks in ಮ್ಯಾಡಿಸನ್ ಚದರ did! And oh, our beloved Rampa was one of the faithful and boy, did he lap it up! Till today, he smiles so smugly like a cat that has lapped up a whole litre of fresh Nandini or Private Label or Horizon organic or Borden… depending which side of the ‘pond’ one is on! 🙂

Our PM – he is planning further trips to Mogadishu and Sierra Leone…. or is it to Israel sometime in the 1st quarter of 2016? Apparently, 25 – 26 countries in JUST 365 days is insufficient.

The BJP Jokers have slapped a small percentage of TAX as a CESS to apparently clean that giant cesspool under that guise of ‘Swacch Bharath’.

Ah! What a year 2015 has been! THE ONLY thing that made it bearable was our Rampa’s incessant doses of jokes.

God bless our Original Rampa – The USA’s version of Russel Peters. 🙂

And oh, wish you a very Happy New Year ya Rampa.

May the jokes never stop flying off your keyboard.

And finally, a very Happy and prosperous NY to all EYT’ians. Cheers

  6. “No one is proud of the educational qualifications of the globetrotter” writes a guy who in all probability voted for a party headed by a former waitress with no college degree!! Talk about having low standards!!!
