Los Angeles, May 2 (IANS) Disney’s “The Jungle Book” remained the most popular movie in North America for a third straight weekend, Xinhua reported.

“The Jungle Book” was expected to sell $42.2 million worth of tickets between Friday morning and the close of business on Sunday night, as the film was down just 31 percent from last weekend’s healthy hold, according to studio estimates gathered by comScore.

The live-action reboot of the 1970s animated feature was expected to cross the $250 million line of North America box office revenue on Sunday and it has grossed over $684 million worldwide.

In second place was “The Huntsman: Winter’s War” in its second week of showings, with only $9.4 million weekend. The total gross of it in first 10 days is up to $34 million.

An R-rated comedy “that defies description” from the comedy team of Key and Peale, “Keanu,” debuted in third place, said movie analyst Paul Degarabedian. It premiered with $9.4 million in sales from 2,658 locations across America and Canada.

Starring Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key, “Keanu” received positive reviews from critics on RottenTomatoes, which shows 75 percent of recommendation.

It received a respectable “B” rating from first-night moviegoers on CinemaScore, which shows a relatively good result for an R-rated comedy.

The remaining 10 most-popular movies this weekend were “Mother’s Day” ($8.3 million), “Barbershop: The Next Cut” ($6.2 million), “Zootopia” ($5 million), “Ratchet and Clank” ($4.8 million), “The Boss” ($4.3 million), “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” ($3.8 million) and “Criminal” ($1.3 million).

Vogue Williams, Brian McFadden not ready for divorce

Los Angeles, May 2 (IANS) Irish model Vogue Williams and singer Brian McFadden, who split up 10 months ago, don’t “need” to get divorced yet.

Williams says they are not yet ready to take the step to legally end their three-year marriage, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Asked if their divorce has been finalised, Williams told Britain’s OK! magazine: “We haven’t done anything with that yet, to be honest. It’s sort of the last thing on our minds. We don’t need to go there right now”.

The 30-year-old says she and McFadden have considered getting back together but later decided against it.

She said: “Of course (we thought about getting back together) but I think Brian and I are just better as friends”.

Prince’s music vault opened

Los Angeles, May 2 (IANS) Temporary trustees of late pop icon Prince’s estate have forced open a vault, where the singer stored all his unreleased music.

The 57-year-old singer, who was found dead at his Paisley Park home last month, had hundreds of tracks stored in a sealed room at his estate, and trustees from Bremer Trust, who have been given temporary authority over Prince’s affairs as he left no will, have now gained access to the secured area of his house, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

According to reports, only Prince had the code to access the vault, which was accessed by a spinning wheel, so the company had to call in locksmiths to drill through the lock and get the door open.

The bank had to move quickly to take inventory of the vault’s contents because they are legally responsible for safeguarding and handling all of the “Little red corvette” singer’s assets.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini ‘refused’ marriage counselling

London, May 2 (IANS) Singer Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has refused to undergo counselling with her estranged husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.

According to a source, Cheryl turned down Jean-Bernard’s pleas to try and save their year-long marriage and instead offered a financial settlement to officially end their union quickly, reports mirror.co.uk.

“JB (Jean-Bernard) wanted to pull out all the stops to make the marriage work. Cheryl had clearly given up on him but he tried to persuade her to go to counselling sessions with him,” The Sun newspaper quoted the source as saying.

“When she offered money to smooth things over, he refused. JB was never interested in Cheryl’s money. He just fancied her like crazy,” the source added.

Cheryl and Jean-Bernard — who married in a secret ceremony in July 2014 — officially split last December last year and Cheryl is now dating One Direction singer Liam Payne.
