Theft of Cash, Gold Worth Rs 4.45 Lakh from Mani House

Bantwal: Thieves broke into the house of Yaqoob in Kapikad near Mani in the taluk on Thursday night and decamped with cash and jewelry worth Rs 4.45 lakh.

Yaqoob works for a hotel and was night shift between 2 am and 6 am. The theft came to his notice when he returned home on Friday morning. The miscreants are said to have broken open the window on the rear side of the house and got inside. They broke open a cupboard and stole Rs 25,000.

They also broke open a table and its drawer and took away an assortment of valuables including a gold anklet, earrings, two rings and a bracelet. The total value of stolen items has been tentatively estimated at Rs 4.45 lakh.

Police from Bantwal and district’s forensic and canine squads have held investigations and are pursuing the case.
