Theft of Rs 5-lakh-plus Valuables from Lecturer’s House in Karkala

Karkala: Telma Rita Rasquinha, a lecturer at a PU College in Sanoor here who resides near the Gandhi Maidan behind the head post office, had locked her home on Apr 19 and gone on an answer paper evaluation assignment.

When she returned on April 23, the house was found broken into and valuables worth 5.28 lakh were missing. The theft might have taken place any day between Apr 19 and 23. People who were aware of her absence may have had a hand in it.

The stolen materials included an assortment of gold ornaments worth Rs 5.28 lakh, silver anklet weighing 50 gms and Rs 1,000 in cash.

Karkala ASP Suman P, circle inspector G M Raikar, inspector Ravi, and team inspected the spot. Fingerprints and the canine squad also held investigations.
