Three killed in Iraqi military helicopter crash

Baghdad, Feb 16 (IANS) At least three crew members were killed when an Iraqi military helicopter crashed on Tuesday in the country’s Wasit province, a provincial security source said.

The Russia-made Mi-17 chopper crashed due to technical malfunction while it was flying over a village in Kut city, Xinhua quoted the source as saying.

The source could not confirm whether the helicopter was carrying any passenger.

The helicopter was flying from a military airbase in Basra in southern Iraq to Baghdad, the source said.
