Trailer of ‘The Mummy’ remake out

Los Angeles, Dec 5 (IANS) The first full trailer for “The Mummy” remake, starring actors Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella, is out.

The trailer, which was released on YouTube on Monday, opens with an expedition led by Cruise’s character Nick Morton in “the unforgiving desert” to obtain the tomb of the ancient princess, reports aceshowbiz.com.

Boutella is essaying the role of Ahmanet, the mummified princess.

One scene shows a flock of crows suddenly attacking the group along with the tomb in a chopper. Following the crash, Ahmanet is awakened.

Actor Russell Crowe’s character Dr. Henry Jekyll exclaims: “Please meet princess Ahmanet. She will claim what she has been denied.”

“The Mummy” remake follows an ancient princess whose destiny was unjustly taken from her. She is awakened in the current day after years of safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath “the unforgiving desert”. It brings with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

The upcoming action-horror film also stars Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, Marwan Kenzari, Javier Botet and Dylan Smith.

Directed by Alex Kurtzman from a script written by Jon Spaihts, “The Mummy” is slated to release on June 9, 2017.

In India, the film will be distributed by Universal Pictures India.
