Tripura governor takes ‘diksha’ from Ramakrishna Mission

Agartala, Aug 12 (IANS) Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy and his wife Anuradha Roy on Friday received diksha (spiritual initiation) here from Swami Prabhananda, vice-president of the order at Belur Math Ramakrishna Mission.

“Yes, I and my wife have received diksha from Swami Prabhananda at the Amatali Ramkrishna Ashram (on the outskirts of Agartala city),” the governor told IANS.

The 71-year-old Tripura Governor was a follower of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission at Belur Math, the headquarters of the twin organisations in West Bengal’s Howrah district.

Tathagata Roy, who was a national executive member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and president of the party’s West Bengal unit (2002-2006), is also the acting Arunachal Pradesh Governor.

Roy was in Jadavpur University as professor and founder head of the department of construction engineering.
