Dubai: To mark the fifth anniversary of Gammath Kalavider UAE, the much awaited Tulu stage play ‘Nank Matherla Bodu’, written By Naveen Shetty Alake, was presented at the Emirates Theatre, Sheikh Zayed road on February 12.
The Team Gammath Kalavider once again proved themselves and showed the Tulu stage play lovers that an amateur group of artistes can perform stage play equally to any professional troupe.
In the houseful Emirates Theatre, the stage play Nank Matherla Bodu started traditionally with the lighting of the lamp by the women representative of Gammath Kalavider and sponsors. At the same time Shashi Shetty and Ravi Raj Shetty, Dony Correa and Asha Correa were felicitated by Gammath Kalavider for their remarkable contributions and active involvement in stage play, culture and community programs in UAE .
Kishore D Shetty of Lakumi troupe and Naveen Shetty Alake, writer of ‘Nank Matherla Bodu’ Tulu stage play were also felicitated for their contributions in the field of Tulu stage play.
Gammath Kalavider felicitated Geetha R Shetty founder of “Sevaa Bhaava Charitable Trust®” a home of rehabilitation centre for aged women in Mangalore, a non-governmental organization which works towards uplifting the less fortunate members of the society.
Entertainment programme began with melodious songs sung by Harish Sherigar. All the guests, sponsors and all the media representatives were honoured for their extended supports.
In ‘Nank Matherla Bodu’, directed by Vishwanath Shetty, Deepthi Salian played the lead role. Brilliantly supported by other actors including Vasu Shetty, Chidanand Poojary, Suvarna Sathish Poojary, Kiran Shetty, Sathish Hegde, Sampath Shetty, Jesh Bayar, Prakash Pakkala, Ramesh Suvarna, Chithra Prasanna Shetty, Girish Kumar, Vittal poojary and baby Sannidhi V Shetty.
Biju and team, one of the well- known make-up artists supported all the artistes in make –up. Team Broadway setup the lighting and sound system.
Comedy and family oriented drama was enjoyed by jam-packed audience and all the artistes were appreciated widely by the audience for their matured acting skills and efforts. Innovative stage decoration by instant changing of village gutthu house to modern flat back drops was special attraction of the play created by woodshine carpentry by Chidanand Poojary was appreciated by audience.
Sarvotham Shetty and Deepak Poojary compered the programme very systematically and made the event a grand success.
