Udupi: 26-year-old youth commits suicide by consuming poison

Udupi: A 26–year–old youth allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at a lodge near Service Bus Stand her, on Saturday, August 1.

The deceased has been identified as Sathyajeeth (26), who was residing near Diana Talkies, Chitpadi. He was working as a helper at the Sagar Saloon Udupi.

According to the police, Sathyajeeth checked-in to Tourist Lodge on the evening of July 31 along with his friend Pramod. Both ordered liquor to the room and consumed it together.

Around 9.30 pm, Manoj left the lodge. Sathyajeeth again ordered liquor, mixed poison with it and consumed it.

On the morning of August 1, when the room service personnel knocked at the door, there was no answer. Hotel authorities informed the Town Police, who rushed to the lodge and broke the room door open. The police found Sathyajeeth dead.

The exact reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained. Some reliable sources told that Sathyajeet was in distress due to love failure.

The body has been sent for autopsy. A case has been registered in the Udupi Town Police Station and the investigation is on.
