Udupi: 29-year-old Man Drowns in River, Two Others Rescued

Udupi: A 29-year-old man drowned while swimming in the river near Kurkal Manipura dam here on September 25.


The deceased has been identified as Vijeth Suvarna (29), a resident of Kurkalu, Subhasnagar.

According to the police, Vijeth Suvarna along with eight of his friends had planned to go for swimming in the Manipura River.

While they were swimming in the river, Vijeth and two others were dragged away by a strong current. Other friends tried to save them, they immediately pulled them out from the river and rushed to the Manipal hospital. But Vijeth breathed his last in the hospital. Two others who were admitted in the hospital are out of danger.

The Kaup Police have registered the case.
