Udupi: 6-year-old Girl Hit by Car at Hiriyadka and Killed – Two Others Injured

special correspondent

Udupi: Diti (6), daughter of Dinesh and Shobha of Shivapura, died after being hit by a speeding car near the government first-grade college at Hiriyadka on Sunday morning.

Two others were also injured in the incident. Fate played a cruel role as the parents of the girl had left her under the care of Saraswati, their neighbour in Puttige of Hiriyadka.

As Saraswati had to attend a meeting of self-help groups in the college premises, she took Diti also also with her, besides her own daughter Tejaswi (4).

As the three were walking by the side of the road towards the college, a car, driven by Yohan, hit them after it went out of his control.

As they were injured, Yohan immediately shifted all of them in the same car to a hospital in Manipal, where Diti died of critical injuries.

Prakash Shetty of Padubhaga in Paddama, who was an eyewitness, reported the matter to the Hiriyadka police. A case has been registered against Yohan.
