Udupi: Author-columnist Jyoti Guruprasad Bags KSP Award for the Third Time

Udupi: Poetess, author and columnist Jyoti Guruprasad, who is based in Karkala, has been chosen to receive the Neelaganga Endowment Award instituted by the Kannada Sahitya Parishat for value-based write-ups, for 2014.

It is for the third time that she has bagged this annual award. This time it is for her book ‘Hosa Pakshi Raaga’. Earlier, in 2009, she had won the endowment award for her collection of poems called ‘Maaya Pettige’ and in 2013 for ‘Joli Lali’, a collection of her write-ups that had appeared in a column format in a Kannada daily.

She has won several other awards, having been recognized as a poetess displaying deep sensitivity and social concern in her output. Her poems have been published in anthology forms like Chukki, Mayapettige and Varanandi Pratime. Her column writings have been published under the titles of Ee Kshana, Preeti Mattu Preeti Maatra and Joli Lali.

The awards won by her include Amma, Lekhaki, Sahitya Setu, Nirata Sahitya, Neelaganga endowment and Ha Ma Nayaka columnist award and others.
