Udupi: Bishop Gerald, Civic Body Honour Pejawar Swamiji during Poura Sanmana

Udupi: Shri Vishweshatheertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, who will ascend the Paryaya Peetha for the fifth time on January 18 here, was honoured by the devotees, Christian Community and Udupi city municipal council here at the car street on Monday January 4.

The function was presided over by Paryaya Kaniyoor Math’s Vidyavallabha Theertha Swamiji, the Swamiji congratulated Shri Vishweshatheertha Swamiji. Shri Vidyadeesha Theertha Swamiji of Palimar Math delivered the felicitation speech.

On Behalf of the Christian Community Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo Bishop of Udupi Diocese along with Fr Fred Mascarenhas parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church Udupi, Fr Denis D’Sa Public Relation officer of the Diocese, Alphonse D’Costa Secretary diocese Pastoral Council felicitated the Swamiji with Shawl, Garland and Fruits.

Udupi city municipal council president Yuvaraj and commissioner Manjunathaiah honoured the Swamiji on behalf of Udupi citizens. Former MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Former Minister Nagaraj Shetty, Rathna Kumar and others honoured the Swamiji on behalf of the Paryaya reception committee side.

Pejawar Swamiji released the Paryaya calendar and launched the Yugapurusha Magazine on the occasion. Special Postal cover to Mark Pejawar Swamiji’s Fifth Paryaya was released on the occasion.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, Minister for Urban Development and Minister in-charge District said that the historic Paryaya will be celebrated as state festival with great pomp. The government has initiated several steps for the success of the Paryaya; the district administration has been monitoring every activity and extending necessary support. The historic Paryaya begins from Dandatheertha, Kaup where the Paryaya Swamiji takes the holy dip; it’s a blessing to be elected as MLA from Kaup constituency which serves as the prelude for the Paryaya, he added.

Delivering the benedictory address on the occasion, Pejawar Swamiji said that ascending the Paryaya Sarvajna Peetha for the fifth time is not my personal achievement. I am able to maintain good health and longevity by the blessing of lord Krishna. The service of the Lord, service to the people who want to acquire knowledge and serve the people will be the main objectives for the next two years after ascending the Paryaya Sarvajna Peetha.

Shri Krishna Temple will conduct various development programmes as of the Lords Service during his paryaya period and he would carry out various Social activities as part of service to the people he added.

Junior Swamiji of Pejawar Math Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji, Udupi district minister in-charge Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, Udupi – Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, MLC Kota Shrinivas Poojary, Chairman of Alvas Education Trust Dr Mohan Alva and others were present on the occasion.
