Udupi: Bison Menace again in Havanje – Agricultural Crops Damaged

Udupi: Farmers from Havanje Keelinje have complained of heavy losses in their fields caused by bisons eating up transplanted paddy saplings. It is not yet clear whether it was a sole bison or more than one which created havoc.

The saplings had been laid less than a week ago. Total loss the field growth has been reported in the lands belonging to at least five agriculturists.

Bison menace had caused heavy damage to crops in the same region on an earlier occasion. The compensation offered by the government was nowhere close to the expeses incurred by the farmers. They have urged the forest personnel to capture them and released them in deep foresh.
