Udupi: Blackmail and Sexual Assault on Minor, Police Arrest Three

Udupi: The Kota police have arrested three accused in connection with blackmailing and sexually assaulting a minor and have booked them under the POCSO Act at Kota here on July 17.

Sources from the Kota police station told mangalorean.com that the main accused, Ganesh Mogaveera, was in love with the victim one year ago. The victim is currently 18 years of age. They had a secret affair and the accused convinced the girl to click nude photos and video. The girl who was compelled, agreed to his demands following which the main accused circulated the photos through WhatsApp to three others. They are Nagraj, Srinivas and Harish.

After the incident, one of the other accused, Nagraj, also started threatening and blackmailing the victim and used her for his selfish gains. He also sexually assaulted the girl. The two others were also compelling her for sex and finally the victim’s brother who saw the videos, inquired with the victim. After learning about the incident, the victim’s brother approached the police. A case was registered in the Kota police station.

The police said that three of the accused have been arrested while another accused, Harish, is absconding.
