Udupi: Congress Holds Eye Check-Up Camp to Mark 68th Death Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

Udupi: To mark the 68th death anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Congress Seva Dal and Youth Congress organised an eye check-up camp at Congress Bhavan, Brahmagiri here on January 30.

District Minister in-charge and Urban Development Minister of the State, Vinay Kumar Sorake inaugurated the eye check-up camp and paid floral tributes to the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi. A two minute silence was later observed in memory of the great soul.

Addressing the gathering, Vinay Kumar Sorake said that he recollected non-violence propagated by Mahatma Gandhi. “Eyes are one of the most important organs in the human body and one should give lot of attention towards their safety. Camps like these will benefit the people who are scared to go to hospitals. Every person should make use of this opportunity,” he added.

Sorake also appreciated the efforts of the eye doctors of the district for making Udupi the number one district across state in eye-check up’s. Director of Prasad Netralaya, Dr Krishna Prasad in his address asked people to take maximum benefit of the camp and also briefed about the activities of Prasad Netralaya. He also cautioned people to take necessary precautions when they face any problem with eyes.

MLA Pramod Madhwaraj presided over the function. Ashok Kodavoor of Congress Sevadal, Sunil Bangera and Yathish Karkera of District Youth Congress, Dr Nithyananda Nayak of Prasad Netralaya were also present.
