Udupi: District Remembers Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on 126th Birth Anniversary

Udupi: “Children should be educated about our nation’s history along with their family history,” said Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA of Udupi constituency. He was speaking after inaugurating the Children’s day celebrations organized by the Department of Information and Public Relations at Volakadu School here, on November 14.

“The historic events help us to learn about the achievements of our ancestors. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, even though being born in a rich family, joined the freedom struggle. The foundation for the country’s socio-economic progress was laid by Jawaharlal Nehru. We started with nothing after independence but today we are a superpower. Children should emerge as global leaders promoting the spirit of nationalism and also leading the nation towards overall development,” he added.

Pramod Madhwaraj distributed prizes to the winners in Essay writing competitions on Jawaharalal Nehru. Nirmala, Headmistress of Volakadu High School Udupi, presided over the function. Veronica Cornelio, Councillor CMC Geetha Ravi Shet, vice president of the school management committee Indu Ramanand Bhat, assistant director of Information Department Rohini K and others were present.
