Udupi: District Wakf Board Slammed by Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike

Udupi: What would you do if you are asked to vacate your legally owned property? And the reason stated is this, “The original property owners are back with old property documents and are now claiming it”.

Ansari Ahmed, the district secretary of Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike criticised the Wakf Board for failing to maintain its property.

Speaking to mediapersons, he said that the state records dated 1966 showed a total of 268 assets that come under the Wakf Board. But it was only on papers and the assets were not used. After that, the records were not updated and no claim was made by the board. This had resulted in legal encroachment of the property through the Land Tribunal.

Now the Wakf Board has appealed before the Lokayukta Court against these encroachments by different organisations and individuals. This will result in many issues if the assets are taken back. Many families will be destitute. The Wakf Board is solely responsible for this, he added.
