Udupi: Dr H S Ballal Flags Off District Police Sports Meet

Udupi: The three-day sports meet of the district police was inaugurated at the Mahatma Gandhi Stadium, Ajjarkad here on Thursday, December 16.

Teams from DAR, Udupi, Kundpaur, Karkala Sub division and Women Police demonstrated an attractive march-past.

K Annamalai, Superintendent of Police, welcomed the gathering. Dr H S Ballal, Pro-Chancellor of Manipal University, inaugurated the district level police sports meet by releasing a bunch of balloons and doves.

In his message, Dr H S Ballal said that police personnel have to work under tough conditions and these sorts of sports activities will add up to their fitness. Ballal commended the Police Department for their “wonderful” job in not only maintaining law and order but also “tremendously” helping in the smooth functioning of the district administration. “Manipal University has always been supporting sports activities. The police should make effective use of the sports facilities in the district,” he adding, while appealing to the police to give importance to their health.

Additional SP Santhosh Kumar, Karkala-Kundapur ASP Suman and others were present.
