Udupi: Fishermen Community holds Colourful ‘Hore Kanike’ Procession for Pejawar Paryaya

Udupi: In preparation of the Paryaya Mahothsava of Sri Vishweshatheertha Swamiji, fishermen community of Malpe held a colourful ‘Hore Kanike’ procession on Tuesday January 5 from Malpe sea shore.

Prior to the procession Sri Vishweshatheertha Swamiji offered Milk to the sea. Later on behalf of the fishermen community of DK and Udupi district fish sellers federation president Yaspal Suvarna, Fishermen’s Association president Hiriyanna T Kidiyoor, G Shanker family trust promoter Nadoja G Shanker felicitated the Swamiji with a silver memento.

Later Pejawar Swamiji flagged off the Hore Kanike procession. More than 200 vehicles took part in the procession. The Hore Kanike procession included Chande, Saxophone troupe, Tabloue and other cultural troupes. The Procession passed through the Malpe sea shore, Kalmadi, Karavali Bypass and culminated near Krishna Math.

Fishermen coummuntiy leaders Anand C Kundar, Anand C Suvarna, Sadhu Salian, Jayakarkumar, Umesh Poojary, Baby H Salian, Jalaj S Kotian, Vittal Kotian, Hariyappa Kotian, Gurme Suresh Shetty, Raghvendra Rao Kodavoor, Divakar Shetty, Mahabal Kundar, Shashidhar Shetty Yermal and others were present.
