Udupi: ICYM Mudarangadi unit holds Patriotic Singing Competition

Udupi: On the occasion of Independence Day Indian Catholic Youth Movement, St Francis Xavier’s Church, Mudarangadi organised Patriotic Singing Competition on August 15.

The programme began with an invocation by ICYM members. Christan D’Almeida president of ICYM Mudarangadi Unit welcomed the gathering. Fr Louis D’Sa Parish priest of the church inaugurated the competitions by lighting the lamp.

In his message Fr Louis D’Sa praised the ICYM Mudarangadi youths for their continued service and dedication towards the society. He also urged that youth need to work for a better society, and nation and be the light of the world.

The competition began with the Solo singing category for all ages and progressed with the group singing for different wards of the parish. More than 40 contestants participated in the competition and filled the atmosphere with patriotism.

Charles Quadras, president of the Catholic Sabha Udupi warado, along with Joyson Furtado ICYM udupi Council Member, Chandras Prabhu and sister Priya Moras were the judges for the competition.

ICYM president, Christan D’Almeida conducted the spot games and entertained the crowd. The prizes to the winners were distributed by the parish vice president and secretary. The judges shared their conclusion regarding the event and requested the ICYM youth to conduct more of such programs in the future.

Parish pastoral council vice president Sunil D’Souza, secretary Mark D’Souza were also present.

ICYM secretary Freeda D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks, vice president Brendan Mendonca compered the programme. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
