Udupi: Justice Subhash Adi expresses discontent for sending bribe case to CCB

Udupi: Deputy Lokyuktha Justice Subhash Adi has expressed his discontent over the handing of the bribery case to the CCB, instead of the CBI. Speaking to mediapersons at Udupi IB on June 27, he said that the probing agency CCB comes under the purview of the Police Department. “An FIR is not yet registered in the CCB Department. The CCB Department probing the Lokayukta seems to be irrelevant.”

He said that instead of the Lokayukta investigation agency probing the bribery case, the case has been referred to the CCB for investigation. If Lokayukta had informed him of the investigation by CCB before handing it over, he would have agreed, he added.

“I am not aware of the circumstances that led Lokayukta to refer the case to CCB. The corruption cases should be probed by Lokayukta or CBI. As the allegation is on a person within the Lokayukta, the investigation of the case should have been referred to the CBI. The state government should intervene and refer the case to CBI,” he added.
