Udupi: “Kanakadasa should not be restricted to any particular caste or creed as he gave the message of secularism five centuries ago. Those messages are relevant during discussions on intolerance across the nation,” said Priyanka Mary Francis, CEO of Udupi Zilla Panchayat.
She was speaking after inaugurating the Kanakadasa Jayanthi organized by the district administration, the Zilla Panchayat and the Kannada and Culture department at the Government Pre-University College on Saturday, November 28.

The principles and preachings of Kanakadasa need to be emulated by everyone. His works are a blend of spirituality, moral principles and values, she added.
Superintendent of Police Udupi district, Annamalai, who was the chief guest of the function, said that Kanakadasa’s teachings should not be confined to any particular community as he worked for all. “The youth should learn more and more about Kanakadasa,” he said.
