Udupi: KKSV and DSS Condemns Attack on Dalit Youth in Kandlur

Udupi: The Karnataka Komu Souhardha Vedike along with Karnataka Dalita Sangarsha Samithi condemned the attack on Dalit youth in Kandlur and also the murder of Bajrang Dal activist Prashant Poojary. The KKSV also condemned the political interference behind the communal violence. In the protest held in front of the Clock Tower, Udupi on October 20, KKSV and KDSS demanded action against the fringe elements influencing communal violence in the twin districts.

In their release, they said that Dalit youth were attacked in Kandlur after communal clashes over a banner issue. A right-wing association clashed with youth of Muslim community during the erection of hoardings in Kandlur. The police and locals interfered and the issue was settled. Later that night, when two Dalit youth – Manjunath and Kumar – were returning back to their house after fixing banners, they were attacked by youth of Muslim community. The KKSV condemns such heinous act, the press release stated.

A right-wing activist Prashant was murdered in Moodbidri. His ideologies may differ from KKSV but killing a human being in the name of religion is not tolerable.

They also said that the right-wing associations and fringe elements together with Sangh Parivar are exploiting backward classes, minorities and dalits in the name of religion which has affected peace in the twin districts.

KKSV president G Rajshekar, Prof Phaniraj, DSS leader Jayan Malpe, Manjunath Giliyar, Louis Lobo, Idrees Hoode, Shashidhar Hemmadi, Shyamraj Birthi, Sundar Kappettu, Abdul Rasheed Kathib, Charles Ambler, Dinakar Bengre, Hussain Kodibengre and others were present.
