According to the rituals, food was served to the members of the Brahmin community after the puja at the temple. After the meal, devotees rolled over the plantain leaves with food leftovers to fulfill their ‘harake’ (vow).

A Kaniyoor Math Vidwan Madhwesh Tantri said that the practice has been going on here since the last 500 years. “Devotees roll over the leaves as part of a ‘harake’ (offering) in return for fulfillment of a wish. People have believes in the ritual since a long time but the math will not forcing anyone to perform the ‘made made snana’,” he added.

  1. Brahmins who support this disgusting practice should be ashamed to lend their support to this kind of inhuman act. yes, everybody knows that these Brahmins exploited the people for ages in the name of Made snana or Kattige pooje, and whatever pooje they can think of solely for the purpose of filling up their coffers. One should wonder at the courage of these Udupi temples which have the audacity and guts to defy SC ban and I begin wondering who are behind these temples supporting them in this kind of depressing act. I think it is necessary that the Government should take a serious note of these practices and educate the people who blindly follow the age-old stupid and idiotic practices and take strict action against the culprits for defying the SC ban. The sight is really depressing and the practice is inhuman and against the human decency and self esteem.

  3. Dear readers,

At his master Bhagwat’s bidding,” BJP said it respected 100 percent the reservation rights of SCs, STs and other backward castes as it was essential for their social and economic development and empowerment.
“It is BJP’s firm commitment since Jan Sangh days that reservation is essential for social and economic development and empowerment of SCs, STs, backward and extremely backward castes. BJP is not in favour of any reconsideration of reservation being extended to these groups,” senior party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad told a press conference.

By defying the Highest court of India under the disguise of Pejawar Swami the untouchability still prevails. Is Brahims are above the law of the land? Is Pejawar is the supreme authority overrule the constitutional rights of citizens of India?

If BJP is with the backward class and untouchability why the so degradable inhuman act which has no scientific benefit is prevented?

    Jai Hind
