Udupi: Man found dead in Udyavar, murder suspected

Udupi: A 63-year-old man was found dead in a shed near Coastal Ice plant at Pithrodi here on February 27.

The deceased has been identified as Laxman Maindan (65) resident of Pithrodi Udyavr.

According to the SP Annamalai, the deceased Laxman Maindan was working in the Costal Ice plant at Pithrodi. He was staying in a small Shed near the Ice plant. The construction work of a new house was in process near the shed. On Saturday a worker who came for work in construction area found Laxman’s body on the ground inside the shed. Immediately he alerted the police. Kaup Police visited the spot, on inspection they found wound marks on the body. Police suspected that it might be a case of murder. There were a number of cut marks on the victim’s body which could have been caused by assault on him,” said Annamalai.

The body was sent for post-mortem to the Manipal Hospital after preliminary investigations.

Annamalai IPS, Superintendent of Police, Suman ASP Karkala Division, Sunil Nayak CPI Kaup and other police officials visited the spot.

A case has been registered in the Kaup Police Station in connection with the incident and investigation is on.
