Udupi: Miscreants Assault Granite Businessman in Padubidri

Udupi: Miscreants attacked a granite businessman while he was on his way home near Kakanadkada, Padubidri here on June 13.

When Philip D’Souza (45) was on his way home on his bike with his two children, unidentified persons on two bikes stopped him, assaulted him with machetes and fled from the spot. Philip, who has sustained severe injuries to his legs, is now undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Mangaluru.

Philip in his statement to the police has said that he was assaulted by close aides of Naveen D’Souza of Inna.

Some of the women who saw the assault taking place shouted for help. On hearing their cries, the attackers fled from the spot.
