Udupi: Mother of Sorrows Church to host Sarvadharma Deepavali  on November 11

Udupi: The Souharda Samiti and Catholic Sabha Mother of Sorrows Church will be organising Sarvadharma Deepavali Celebrations on November 11 at the church ground, said Fr Royson Fernandes, assistant parish priest of the church.

Addressing a press conference at the Press Club on Saturday, November 7, Fr Royson said that these celebrations are intended to strengthen the friendship among all communities.

The Sarvadharma Deepavali Celebrations will be presided over by Udupi Diocese Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo. Sri Esha Vittaladasa Swamiji of Kemaru, Goldin Bangera of CSI Bathania Church Parpele Karkala, Moulana Abdul Rasheed of Udyavara Jamia Mosque and Gyani Balraj Singh, a representative of the Sikh community, will be the chief guests for the celebrations.

As a special attraction, prior to the stage programme a giant size ‘Tower Goodudeepa’, prepared by Zilla Nagarika Vedike, will be unfurled. Also, on this occasion, a Goodudeepa and Rangoli exhibition, lighting of lamps, attractive fire crackers, distribution of sweets and cultural programmes have been arranged, he said.

Convener of Souharda Samithi Alphonse D’Costa, Nithyananda Volakadu of Nagarika Vedike, Dr Ameen Meer and Benedicta Fernandes were present in the press meet.
