Udupi: The Muslim Welfare Association (MWA) and Jamia Masjid organised an Iftar get-together with mediapersons at the mosque premises here, on July 14.
Mohammed Mowla, president of Muslim Welfare Association, welcomed the gathering.
Explaining the importance of the month of Ramadan, Mohammed Marakada, a member of MWA said that during this blessed month, Muslims around the world spend the daylight hours in complete fast abstaining from food or water.
He further said that the fasting mentioned in the holy Qur’an is not merely abstaining from food and water but it is much more than that and it means to abstain from all evil actions, thoughts, and words.
“We are to seek forgiveness for our sins and make peace with those who have wronged us, strengthen ties with family and friends, care for the less privileged by doing charity or even simple acts of kindness, and do away with all bad habits essentially to clean up our lives, our thoughts, and our feelings and also to bring patience and humility in our lives,” he said.
Later, all those present in the mosque hall ended their fast with a delicious Iftar dinner enjoyed by all.
