Udupi: Popular Videographer Umesh Acharya from Sooda Dies in Road Mishap

Udupi: A Tempo vehicle collided head-on with a motorbike at Sooda cross on Shirva-Belmmannu road on Sunday morning.

Umesh Acharya, son of Shankarayya Acharya and Shanta of Sooda, was fatally injured. He was rushed to a hospital in Udupi where he was found to have died already.


He was a well-known photographer and videographer and a member of the Kaup zone unit of South Kanara-Udupi Photographers’ Association.

He was riding in the pillion with Dinesh Poojary, who has also been injured and hospitalized. They had gone to watch a volleyball match in Kuntalpadi and were on their way back. As the bike entered the Shirva-Belmannu road at the Sooda cross, a speeding Tempo collided with the bike.

The Tempo was carrying a group of persons on their way to an engagement ceremony.
