Udupi: Rohit Vemula’s suicide is murder of the national spirit. Union ministers Bandaru Dattatreya and Smrithi Irani should own up responsibility by rendering their resignation said former union minister Janardhan Poojary. He was speaking to the mediapersons at a press meet held at the Press Club here on January 23.
Smrithi Irani has no smrithi; she is lying to the people of the country on Rohit Vemula”s suicide. The pressure mounted on university authorities by Bandaru Dattatreya and Smrithi Irani shows the sense of intolerance. It is the murder of the Indian constitution which upholds human dignity but in Rohit Vemulas case, un-touchability and intolerance seems to be still persistent on our society.
Smrithi Irani it is not acting, there you act well but here you have to initiate efficient action. PM Narendra Modi has broken his silence on the issue but he should sack Smrithi Irani and Bandaru Dattatreya from his cabinet. BJP is witnessing political failure in the grassroot level as the people have lost faith in them. The people have taught you lesson in Bihar, Delhi and Gujarat local body polls for being adamant in policies. If Rohit had not committed suicide no one would have raised their voice, since he had committed suicide the real picture of un-touchability and intolerance can be witnessed.
Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaih and Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar should break their silence on the pressure mounted by the college authorities forcing Sukesh, principal of Chennamma PU College, Madikeri to render his resignation. Sukesh committed suicide in Mangaluru. His wife Shnehalatha has narrated the consequences of forcing her husband to commit suicide.
The Bharaitya Janatha Party is accusing Congress of playing dirty politics as Rahul Gandhi has visited Hyderabad and has consoled Rohit’s parents.
Interrogation of the suspects having ISIS links is on and the investigation should continue.
Every politician is killing Nethravathi, Sonia Gandhi has directed our leaders, but no one has met me over the issue, he added.
Sunil D Bangera, Sujaya Poojary, Keshav Kotian were present in the press meet.
