Udupi: Seven Huts Belonging to Migrant Workers destroyed in fire

Udupi: Seven huts were destroyed when a fire broke out at Adi Udupi near Karavali Hotel here on June 30.

The huts, belonging to migrant labourers from North Karnataka, were razed by the fire. Around noon, the workers had left their huts for work. Thus, when the fire broke out, there was no loss of life. The cause of the fire is not known yet.

Money and other belongings in the huts were destroyed. The roof of the huts covered with coconut leaves and plastic sheets spread the fire. The police and the fire brigade rushed to the spot immediately and prevented the fire from spreading further. The loss is estimated to be nearly Rs 30,000.
