Udupi: Sisters from Kolalgiri Attempt Suicide by Jumping into River, Saved by Locals

Udupi: Shanta (27) and her sister Shakuntala (25), residing near the Kolalgiri church, jumped into a river in Mabukala near Brahmavar on Thursday around 9 am.

Some workers involved in extraction of sand spotted them and immediately pulled them out of water. After initial treatment in a private hospital in Brahmavar, they were taken to the district hospital in Ajjarakad here.

The siblings had to take care care of themselves without anyone to care for them. Hence they were reportedly undergoing depression, said their neighbours. They are being attended to in the psychiatric section of the hospital.
