Udupi: St Mary’s Kannarpady Celebrates Samskrithi Habba

Udupi: A cultural fest, ‘Samskrithi Habba – 2015’, was organised at St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava.

The school has been celebrating this fest since the last 8 years to create awareness among the students about the local literature, art, music and dance. Kannada handwriting, Kannada quiz and Bhavageethe competitions were conducted at the fest.

Various folk games of Karnataka were also demonstrated before the students to sensitize them towards the cultural heritage of the state. An exhibition of the traditional dishes and antiques of local Tulu culture was the centre of attraction.

Famous musician Aravind V Hebbar, who was the chief guest, urged the students to develop a good taste for classical music and the dance forms of Karnataka. Secretary of the Catholic Education Society Udupi, Fr Lawrence C D’Souza presided over the function and distributed the prizes to the winners of the various competitions. Principal Myrtle L F Lewis was also present on the occasion.

Udupi: St. Mary’s School Kannarpady holds Science Exhibition

A grand science model making competition and exhibition was held in St. Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Shyamala Prasad, the senior teacher at MICE Udupi. More than 150 teams from primary and high school section presented their innovative science models on various topics such as eco-friendly fuels , disaster management, low cost nutritious food, rain water harvesting, medicinal plants, health and hygiene etc.

The senior science teachers and subject experts Nagesh Shastri , Kalpana Prabhu, Preethi Prabhu, Divya Kamath, Chandrika G Hegde, Dr. Srilatha Prabhu, Mamatha Rao Koradkal judged the science models and interacted with the participants to test their in-depth knowledge and creative ideas regarding the topics.

This exhibition was successfully organized under the guidance of principal Myrtle L. F. Lewis
