Udupi: The state government is playing with the future of SSLC and PUC students, said D V Sadananda Gowda, Union Minister for Legal Affairs and former Chief-Minister of Karnataka. He was speaking to the mediapersons during his visit to the District at the Circuit House here on May 22.

“The confusion in the PUC and SSLC results need to be set right. The State Education Minister and the Chief Minister should look into the issue as it concerns the future of the students.”

He preferred to remain silent on the CBI’s investigation into the suspicious death of IAS officer D K Ravi saying that the team is doing its job and jumping to conclusions before the investigation is completed will lead to confusion.

“Celebrations of historic and national importance should continue while glorifying an individual regularly should be stopped.”

Hitting hard on Vinay Kumar Sorake’s allegations on the central government failing to release funds to the Urban Development authority, DVS said that 40 state representatives represent Karnataka in the central government. “If Sorake feels that the central government has cheated the state government, let him come to Delhi, his views will be presented to Venkaiah Naidu and the Prime Minister, and efforts will be made to solve the issue. Targeting the central government for every issue in the state is not fair,” he added.

“A BJP-free Karnataka state is one of the day dreams of the Chief Minister and his followers. The Congress was not concerned about presenting government programmes  to the general public during the sessions, but they targeted the opposition parties.”

“CM Siddaramaiah will not assess his ministers as he is not in a position to give marks to his ministers. The state and central governments should lead the country towards development but the state government has failed to develop Karnataka. The word ‘Bhagya’  has lost its meaning,” he added.

MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLA Sunil Kumar, Shymala Kundar were present.

  1. Karnataka education board with their blunders in question papers and the subsequent grace mark solution has ruined the reputation of the state. High time the board is re-structured with stringent rules and buck-stopping accountability. Only when the heads roll at the top, do we see any change in the system.

If there were erroneous questions amounting to 15 marks, instead of granting 15 grace marks to all exam takers, they could disregard those error questions altogether and evaluate the paper against a total of 85 marks and then convert it to percentage. That would be a relatively fair system to the honest students. I would like too call it “Duckworth-Lewis” of SSLC.
