Udupi: Supply Van Rolls over near Saligrama, Drenches Paddy Field with Load of Milk

Udupi: For some time at least a paddy field by the side of the road at Kavadi near Saligrama in the taluk may remain the land of milk if not honey.

A van carrying daily supply from Kavadi Milk Producers’ Cooperative Society to Saligrama went out of its driver’s control and rolled over into a field on Friday. Thousands of litres of milk in aluminium containers on board spilled over into the ground.

The vehicle and the cans containing milk were heavily damaged. The driver and conductor were lucky to escape without injuries.

The exact loss in terms of the load of milk is yet to be ascertained. Thousands of daily consumers around may have had to manage with black coffee and tea.
