Udupi: Two undertrials escaped from the district prison at Hiriyadka here on January 23.
According to sources Ashok alias Babru and Kumar Gosavi, both accused in a theft case, escaped from the prison in the afternoon at around 3 pm on January 23. Udupi SP Annamalai has confirmed the incident on Sunday January 24.

The prisoners along with Babru and Kumar Gosavi were working in the garden when they escaped by jumping the compound wall. According to procedures, the Jail warden filed a complaint in the Hiriyadka Police Station.
Special teams have been formed to nab the prisoners. The constables on duty would be taken to task said SP Annamalai.
