As the news spread, hundreds of people gathered in front of the house and demanded for a proper enquiry and stern action against the miscreants. The incident could be aimed at provoking the Hindu community. According to Prabhakar, this is the second time that the head of a cow was thrown near his house. The same incident had happened a few months back and he had buried it without informing the police.

Udupi SP Annamalai along with DCIB Inspector Jaishanker rushed to the spot and assured the public that the police department were keeping a close watch on the situation. “Our efforts are also on to nab the culprits who are involved in this heinous act. To control the situation additional police force has been deployed,” he added. The head of the cow has been sent for medical test.

A case has been registered in the Shirva Police Station.

  1. Dear readers,

The murder by a Hindu mob of a Muslim man rumored to have slaughtered a cow has thrown a spotlight on the hardline, polarizing agenda of some followers of Indian Prime Minster Narendra Modi, undermining his promise of development for all.

On a tour of Silicon Valley last month where he was feted by U.S. tech gurus and Indian emigres, Modi won a pledge from Microsoft to provide low-cost Internet for 500,000 villages to back his vision of a globally networked “Digital India”.

One such village is Bisara, 50 km (30 miles) from the capital New Delhi, where a crowd of assailants broke into Mohammed Akhlaq’s home last Monday night, beat him to death and dragged his body out into the street.

The local member of parliament, Mahesh Sharma, is also Modi’s culture minister and has hit the headlines of late with statements that show a different side to their ruling Hindu nationalist party. In one recent speech, Sharma vowed to cleanse public life “polluted” by Western influences.

Visiting Bisara this week to pay his respects to Akhlaq’s family, Sharma said the killing could have been an “accident”.

“How can the leader call my husband’s murder an accident?” Akhlaq’s widow Ikraman, who suffered facial injuries, told Reuters at the family home. “I don’t think the minister knows the difference between an accident and murder.”

Critics say Sharma’s comment implicitly condoned Akhlaq’s lynching and pandered to fringe Hindu militants who have recently become active in the district.

Eating beef is a taboo for many Hindus, who make up 80 percent of India’s population of 1.25 billion people, but not for the country’s 175 million Muslims.

In a clear attempt to spark unrest,a slaughtered pig was found inside a mosque in Delhi’s Okhla area. This incident took place even as areas like Trilokpuri and Bawana remain tense over communal clashes.

While there was outrage about the incident in the mosque located in the JJ cluster, the Muslim community acted with restraint, choosing to file a police complaint along with the Hindus in the area.

Nowadays beef has become a topic of debate in the country since the right wing activists have taken an aggressive move against the people eating beef, mainly Muslims. The 50-year-old Mohammed Akhlaq was lynched on Monday night by angered mob, following an announcement in the local temple that his family had consumed beef. No doubt beef may lead to communal violence in any part of the country.

Burkha-clad RSS activist caught throwing beef at temple? Pictures go viral on Facebook!

“Those who spread this poison enjoy his (Modi’s) patronage,” .”This government has set a tone that is threatening, mean-spirited and inimical to freedom.”

I would request local Muslims to unite with Hindus wherever such incident reported to defeat the evil from the society.
The non-BJP ruled states bound of elections will witness such crimes in the future to polarise the majority community to divide for vote bank.

There are sharp rise in polarisation in West Bengal,UP, Karnataka and God’s own country Kerala. Let’s strive for ‘Pluralist’ and ‘inclusive’ India.

    Jai Hind

  2. As repeatedly pointed out by our media and minority-worshiping politicians, these incidents should be given communal color ONLY when the perpetrators belong to sanaathana dharma. In that case, it should be immediately given a national-level coverage accompanied by all the ‘intolerant-India’ artists and the fake outrage they are known for. Also, everybody is encouraged to return their Drivers License, birth certificate, Aadhaar card and whatever you can think of in protest!! However, this case from Udupi seems to be a peaceful act by very tolerant folks in the area. So, it has absolutely nothing to do with religion!!

Let’s all listen to Bakra Dutt and Mani Shaikh Ayyar on how India needs to learn lessons from Pakistan on multi-multiculturalism and tolerance.

    Bharatha Desha RIP!!
