Ullal Target Group Leader and Aide Arrested in Mumbai

Mangaluru: The Anti-rowdy Squad police arrested the leader of Ullal Target Group from an apartment near the Jeppu Kudupady Mosque and his aide from Woodland Guest House near Dadar Railway Station, Mumbai on November 19.

The arrested have been identified as Ilyas alias Target Ilyas a resident of Sundaribagh Ullal and Surmo Imran alias Imran from Melangady Ullal.

According to the police, on getting reliable information about Surmo Imran staying in a guest house, the Mangaluru South Anti-rowdy Squad police reached Mumbai and arrested him.

The police also got information about Ilyas who was residing in an apartment near the Jeppu Kudupady Mosque. The anti-rowdy squad raided the apartment and arrested him.

Imran and Ilyas were involved in an attempt to murder case of Dawood in Ullal. After the crime, both were absconding. The police from Bajpe, Ullal and Yallapur police stations had issued warrants against Ilyas and Imran since both of them failed to appear before the court.

Ilyas was also involved in a number of robberies and attempt to murder cases in Bajpe, Uttara Kannada, Yallapur and Konaje police limits, hence an arrest warrant was issued against him. He is also facing 25 cases related to attempt to murder and robbery in Udupi, Padubidri, Uttara Kannada and Yallapur.

Imran was also involved in various robbery and attempts to murder cases and 9 cases have been registered against him in the Ullal, Bajpe and Yallapur police stations.

The Anti-rowdy Squad police have handed over Ilyas and Imran to the Ullal police for further investigations. Ilyas and Imran were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

Under the direction of police commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Law and order Hanumantharaya and DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth the operation was carried out by the ACP of Anti-rowdy Squad and team.
