VA’s and PDO’s Responsible for Illegal Construction in Govt. Land – Pramod Madhwaraj

Udupi: Village accountants and the Panchayat Development Officer will be held responsible for illegal construction of houses in government land said Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj. He was speaking at a meeting held at the Taluk Panchayat here on reserving sites for housing for landless people and water distribution.

Officials should initiate criminal proceeding against the people who illegally occupy government land. Officials should work effectively in reserving government land for housing for the landless. The system of. Providing flats will be introduced in Udupi for those who are interested and others who insist on plots can move to rural areas. Priority will be given to people who live in rented houses and do not possess any land.
He also said that the VA and PDO should finalise the list of landless people who want to avail sites by March 30. Any irregularities in the list will lead to their suspension.

Panchayat authorities should furnish their proposal for drinking water to the task force. Delay in sending proposals will not be tolerated. Tankers will be used to supply water for places where there is acute shortage. Tankers supplying water should possess photo of the MLA since he is the chairman of the task force.

The engineer said that the PDO’s were delaying to file the proposals. MLA directed the EO to initiate stern action against the PDO’s if irregularities were reported.
