VHP and BD demand intervention of Governor in DK district Communal unrest

Udupi: Condemning the killings of Hindu leaders in the State, VHP Udupi has submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Karnataka through the Deputy Commissioner Udupi on Tuesday, July 18.

The memorandum states that 22 Hindus have been murdered brutally after the Congress government has come to power in the State. An attempt has also been made to kill 15 Hindu leaders in the state. Hindus are living in fear because of minority appeasement by the Congress government.

The Ministers and MLA’s of Mangaluru constituency have been supporting the associations like PFI, KFD and SDPI which are involved in the killing of Hindu leaders. Section 144 clamped in the district, is prevailing from the last 55 days. Hindu leaders Sharan Pumpwell, Satyajit Suratkal, Pradeep Pumpwell, Murali Hamsatadka, Harish Punja and others have been booked under the IPC section 308. Houses of Hindu leaders are under the vigilance of the police officials who are threatening their families. A group of policemen roundup the houses of Hindu leaders every day and threaten them.

The government of Karnataka should make extra efforts to restore peace in DK district. The police should be given a free hand. The governor should intervene and order the Chief Minister of Karnataka and Chief Secretary to follow the legal parameters and function effectively.

VHP district President Vilas Nayak, City VHP President Naveen Suvarna, Bajrangdal Zonal President Sunil K R and others were present.
