Villa defender Amavi to miss rest of the season

London, Nov 15 (IANS) English football club Aston Villa on Sunday confirmed that defender Jordan Amavi has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

“Aston Villa can confirm defender Jordan Amavi has been ruled out for the rest of the 2015/16 Premier League season with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee,” Aston Villa said in a statement.

The 21-year-old suffered the injury on Thursday night playing for France Under-21s against Northern Ireland in an European qualifying fixture.

Amavi has featured 12 times for Villa since joining from French club Nice in the summer, helping to keep a clean sheet against Premier League leaders Manchester City in what will ultimately be his final appearance of the campaign on Sunday.
