Mangaluru: Ismail Asif (24), a resident of Mandkur in Kanyana village of Bantwal taluk, faced charges of assaulting his wife and giving threat to her life on March 17, 2014.
He had been subsequently arrested and had come out on bail. Thereafter, he had evaded court warrants and reportedly gone abroad.
District’s superintendent of police Dr Sharanappa S D had therefore issued a lookout circular (LOC) seeking his custody. When Asif arrived from Dubai at the city’s international airport on Wednesday, Apr 27, a team of immigration officials nabbed him.
He was handed over to the Vittal police who were handling the case. They produced him before a JMFC magistrate at the latter’s residence in Bantwal at 10-15 pm. He was sent to judicial custody.
