WC Cricket – Betting Den in Vyasanagar Apartment Raided by Police

Mangaluru: On receipt of a reliable tip-off, the city crime bureau (CCB) police from the city raided a betting den being operated from an apartment in Vyasanagar off Kadri hills on Friday.

Melvyn Vishwas (27), resident of Holy Cross Villa near Eliarpadavu on the outskirts, was found collecting money from interested persons who were betting on the World Cup T20 cricket match results.

Betting was on full swing as the fixture between Australia and New Zealand was in progress. The police seized Rs 3,02,700 in cash, a mobile phone, a Sony LED TV and a register with notes of names and collection were seized from him. He was arrested and the materials seized.

The total seizure amounted to Rs 3.35 lakh. The case has been handed over to the Mangaluru east police station.
