Kerala (FT): In a disgusting act, a priest from Kerala said that women who wear jeans, t-shirt, shirt or any other clothes that are primarily meant for men, should be drowned in the sea.
In a disgusting act, a priest from Kerala said that women who wear jeans, t-shirt, shirt or any other clothes that are primarily meant for men, should be drowned in the sea. His shameful comments did not end here and the pastor was recorded saying women do these things just to arouse men. A girl named Jasmine PK exposed the priest by sharing a video on Facebook in which he is saying that women wearing men’s attire should be drowned in the sea with rocks tied to their bodies. “When I go for prayer meetings in some churches, especially during the Holy Mass, I feel like leaving because of some women who I see in front of me. I feel it’s better to kick them out of the church premises,” he said.
He said women do all these things just to get attention, even when a place like church don’t require it. “They will wear jeans, trousers, shirt or T-shirts, and will have a mobile phone in their hands. They wouldn’t even tie their hair. They do this get attention. I don’t know why these things come to the church,” he added. The video was taken from Shalom TV but was originally posted about 12 months ago on YouTube.
He further added, “Did the Catholica Church give you permission to wear what men wear?” Okay, let’s keep the church away. Did the Holy Bible give you permission? Let me tell you what the Bible says, Men should not wear women’s clothes, women should not wear men’s clothes. If you do, you disregard god. Will you get mercy if you go against god and then act in the church as if you’re more devoted than your mother?”
He complained that many boys come to him and tell that women wearing half-nude clothes in church arouse them to sin. “Those who provoke you into sin should be drowned in the depths of the sea, with a rock tied to their bodies. If you [women] arouse men, you’re the sinner. The best-suited attire for women is ‘churidaar’, but these days, when Satan enters them, women throw away the ‘dupatta’. They walk around without shawls.”
A ‘priest from Kerala’, uh? Must be a Hindu priest? smiles…
Inciting violence is not free speech. This guy should face the consequence of calling for deaths of millions of women who wear jeans and t-shirt. On a different note, Hindu/Christian/Sikh/Jain communities may have crackpot priests like this once. But it doesn’t stop women from doing what they want.
Very unfortunate that someone who is a “shepherd” talks like this.
It’s good of you to bring to light such grave social evils.
Closer home, in the last issue of “Zaith” the newsletter of Holy Cross Chuch Kulshekar, a priest from Shaktinagar parish had voiced similar opinions, degrading women from the time of Eve till today. Seems like no one reads this newsletter as nothing has come up of this issue.
It is not good for a priest to judge and condemn anybody( Luke 6:37 ,Jn 20:23 ). Priest should try to explain the bible and lead congregation into prayers to seek graces. It is important to realize that,
a) Every human being , high or low needs graces from God
b) It is important to ask for graces as we have been given the right to make our own choices( Deut 11:26-28 ). We are incapable of sustaining against Satan on our own.
c) Mere lectures do not change people. We can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.
It has become vital to pray for graces as many catholic families do not find time to say family prayers
I humbly urge the church to say prayer of graces before or during the Mass. This will make Mass more lively and meaningful.
I give here below my favourite prayer for graces which is as follows,
Jesus gives us true contrition for our sins, grace to forgive , grace to pray for our enemies and
leadership
Grant us the grace to obey all the commandments, save us from all occasions of sin, temptations,
snares of the evil one, wicked people and creatures, wrong behaviour and shame.
Jesus give us grace to come to you when we are weary and tired, surrender all our worries to you
and grant us hope, patience and peace
Lord fill us with your Holy Spirit and grant us gifts of wisdom, understanding, knowledge,
discernment,faith,prayer, hope , love ,peace , joy,gentleness,self control, patience, MODESTY,
CHASTITY AND FAITHFULNESS
Jesus give us the grace to understand, interpret bible properly and save us from blasphemy, false prophesy and self glorification.
Lord say a word and our souls shall be healed and we shall receive perpetual health of body, mind,
good health and a holy death.
Lord send forth The Holy Spirit that he will teach us all things and remind us of all that you
Have said to us.,
