World Vitiligo Day – Free Camp from 25 to 30 June at KMC Hospital Attavar

Mangaluru: The World Vitiligo Day will be observed on 25th June. A free camp will be held for Vitiligo and Leukoderma from 25 to 30 June 2018 at the Skin Dept, KMC Hospital, Attavar.

Vitiligo is a chronic skin condition characterized by portions of the skin losing their pigment. It occurs when skin pigment cells die or are unable to function. The only sign of vitiligo is the presence of pale patchy areas of depigmented skin which tend to occur anywhere on the body. The patches are initially small, but often grow and change shape. When skin lesions occur, they are most prominent on the face, hands and feet.

The loss of skin pigmentation is particularly noticeable around body orifices, such as the mouth, eyes, nostrils, genitalia and umbilicus. Some lesions have increased skin pigment around the edges. Patients who are stigmatized for their condition may experience depression and similar mood disorders.

Furthermore, in order to do a complete evaluation of the patient, the camp will also offer Free Consultation & Special 20% discount on Phototherapy, Vitiligo Skin Grafting & Targeted Phototherapy Investigations & 10% discount on Lab investigations.

Dr Anand Venugopal, Medical Superintendent, KMC Hospital, Attavar has requested the public to avail the benefits of this camp.
