1.45 lakh acres separated from Deemed Forest – MLA Madhwaraj

Manipal: 1.45 lakh acres of land has been separated from the deemed forest in the district, said Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA of Udupi constituency and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Revenue Department. He was speaking at a press meet held at the deputy commissioner’s office here, on May 27.

The district covers 958,000 acres of land in which 175,000 acres was set aside as deemed forest. The survey process has indicated that only 30000 acres is deemed forest area while rest 145,000 acre is land covering schools, roads and other establishments. The ‘kumki’ and ‘paramboku’ land has been separated from the deemed forest land included in 145,000. “Kumki land is nothing but land next to Kadim Vargadhar land; it is a privilege and not a right. The government is yet to make a clear decision on Kumki land,” he said.

Udupi district stands first in survey department in the state where licensed surveyors are surveying 34 files and government surveyors 38 files. The district also leads in Atalji Janasnehi Kendra and Nemmadi Kendra. The district stands second in the disposal of mutation applications and Sakala services.

The last date of filing the application for 94(C) is October 4 while that for 94(CC) is September 27. A delay has been noticed in the payment of salaries to Village Assistants. The department officials will be instructed to pay the pending salaries immediately, he added.

The power to rectify RTC has been given to the Tahsildar from the Assistant Commissioner. Pramod Madhwaraj reviewed files pending from 3 years. 56 files were found to be pending under LND(v1), 136 files in RR(v1), 60 files LRF (v1) and 10 files in supervisor level in Udupi taluk; 100 files are pending under LND(v1), 40 in RR(v1), 76 LRF (v1) and 0 in supervisor level in Brahmavar; 38 files are pending under LND(v1), 48 in RR(v1), 88 LRF (v1) and 47 in supervisor level in Byndoor; 69 files are pending under LND(v1), 14 in RR(v1), 23 LRF (v1) and 15 in supervisor level in Karkala taluk.

Eight files are pending under LND(v2), 103 in RR(v2), 15 LRF (v2) and 2 in supervisor level in Udupi taluk; 11 files are pending under LND(v2), 86 in RR(v2), 0 LRF (v2) and in supervisor level 1 in Brahmavar; 9 files are pending under LND(v2), 157 in RR(v2), 0 LRF (v2) and in supervisor level 5 in Kundapur; 7 files are pending under LND(v2), 56 in RR(v2), 1 LRF (v2) and in supervisor level 3 in Byndoor; 7 files are pending under LND(v2), 25 in RR(v2), 0 LRF (v2) and in supervisor level 0 in Karkala taluk. Officials were instructed to clear the pending files in 3 months (for v1) and 6 months (for v2) subsequently.

The Assistant Commissioner of Kundapur has been effectively working to clear the pending files; the deputy commissioner’s office has also cleared their pending files.

Pumping operations are on in Baje dam. Water is being pumped and tankers have been supplying water effectively to areas facing shortage, he added.

Deputy Commissioner Dr R Vishal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anuradha, Assistant Commissioner Aswathi and others were present.
