118 Rowdy Sheeters Paraded in Udupi

118 Rowdy Sheeters Paraded in Udupi

Udupi: As a precautionary measure the district police paraded 118 rowdy-sheeters at the Chandu Maidan here on Thursday, April 27.

In the presence of K T Balakrishna superintendent of police, Vishnuvardhan ASP Udupi, Kumaraswamy DySP Udupi, Praveen Nayak DySP Kundapur the parade of rowdy-sheeters was conducted.

Interacting with the rowdy-sheeters, K T Balakrishna superintendent of police warned the rowdies and asked them to mend their ways and keep away from creating any trouble in the society. The Inspector General of Police of western range Harishekaran ordered to conduct a parade of the rowdy-sheeters once in three months. 143 persons were arrested in 86 criminal cases in the district. Out of the 143 criminals, 118 persons were released on bail and they were paraded. Anti-social elements in the area have been warned that stringent action would be taken against them if they were involved in any anti-social or criminal activities. The district police are also planning to open rowdy sheet on those involved in illegal sand mining activities in the district, he added.

Later, the superintendent of police also directed the officers to verify the records of those rowdy-sheeters who are still active in anti-social activities.
