124 Churches in Mangaluru Diocese Peal Bells in Gratitude and Appreciation

Mangaluru: The Coronavirus has created a lot of fear and anxiety among the people around the world. Hundreds of people have died and thousands have tested positive for COVID -19. Social distancing is thought to be the best solution to control the spreading of the coronavirus.

To bring awareness among the people Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given a call to observe Janata Curfew on March 22 from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm so that the people can stay in their homes for 14 hours in order to further control the spreading of the Coronavirus. Prime minister had also called to appreciate the work of the doctors, nurses and other medical staff who are involved in treating the affected people during this critical time.

Accordingly on March 22, at 5:00 pm pealing of the bells was carried out in all the 124 churches in the Mangaluru diocese for 5 minutes. At the same time, people were seen in the balconies, windows and terraces of their apartments/houses and clapping hands to appreciate those rendering their services day and night in treating the coronavirus affected persons.
