17th Year ‘Manipal Arogya Card Scheme 2017’ launched

Mangaluru: “The official launch of the Manipal Arogya Card Scheme 2017 was held on April 19, at Manipal by Dr H S Ballal, Pro-Chancellor, Manipal University Manipal. The person who enrols for Manipal Arogya Card before May 28, 2017, can avail the benefits for 14 months starting June 1, 2017, and ending July 31, 2018. The enrollment for the scheme will close on 29th July 2017. Those who enroll after 29th May 2017 will get the benefit from 1st August 2017. Then Enrollment Process for the Manipal Arogya Card is kept as simple as possible”, said the Medical Superintendent of KMC Hospitals Mangaluru Dr Anand Venugopal in a press meet held at Hotel Palki, Jyothi Circle here on May 12.

Addressing the mediapersons Dr Surendra V Shetty, Pro Vice Chancellor Manipal University Mangaluru campus said, “Manipal Arogya Card scheme is a social initiative of Manipal University introduced 17 years ago to make medical treatment for the public affordable. The scheme is applicable in the Manipal Group hospitals in Coastal Karnataka which means a Manipal Card Holder can avail discounts at 5 Hospitals namely KMC Hospital Dr B.R. Ambedkar circle, KMC Hospital Attavar, Kasturba Hospital Manipal, Dr TMA Pai Hospital Udupi and Dr TMA Pai Rotary Hospital Karkala and 2 Dental Colleges namely Manipal College Of Dental Sciences Manipal and Mangaluru. The scheme is hugely popular as in 2016, 1.65 lakh people had enrolled themselves and the university has given more than Rupees 4 crore discount under this scheme out of which Approximately Rs 1.5 Crore Discount was given at KMC Hospitals Mangaluru. Manipal University is expecting over 2 lakh Manipal Arogya card members this year.”

Speaking on the occasion Dean of KMC Mangaluru Dr M V Prabhu said “The Manipal Arogya Card offers concessions to all the existing members on the renewal of membership and to the new members by paying a small amount of money, which may well be recovered from just two or three visits to the hospital. Manipal Arogya Card scheme follows the vision of our founder where all the people of the society are able to afford quality healthcare.”

He further said, “Manipal Arogya Card membership fee is priced at just Rs 250/- for an individual card and Rs 520/- for a family which includes the cardholder, spouse and all the dependent children below 25 years of age. For the parents of primary card holder under the family card, Family Card Plus add-on for one parent is available for Rs 620/- and Family Card Plus add-on for both parents is available for Rs 720/-. For renewal of the Cards, the enrolment fee is Rs 220 for Individual cards, Rs 460 for Family Card, Rs 560 Family Card with add-on for single parent card and Rs 660 for Family Card with add-on for both parents.”

Dr Dilip G Naik, Dean -Manipal College of Dental Sciences Mangaluru said, “This year, people who enroll for the Manipal Arogya Card can also avail dental benefits at the Manipal college of Dental Sciences Mangaluru. The card will have double benefits, as the Dental Arogya Card will also be inbuilt into it. People need not pay any extra cost for the dental card,”

The Regional Chief Operating Officer, Manipal Health Enterprises Private Limited Saghir Siddique said, “Amongst the last 17 Years of the scheme, this year’s Benefits and Discounts offered at KMC Hospitals Mangaluru are maximum”.

The benefits of the scheme at KMC Hospital, Attavar are:

Consultations with any specialist doctor any number of times during the year at 100% discounted rate at KMC Hospital, Attavar is the most attractive among the outpatient benefits of the card. There is a flat 25% discount on Laboratory investigations done at KMC Hospital, Attavar. For CT/MRI/Ultrasound there is a 25% discount. In addition, there is a discount of 25% on OP procedures done at KMC Hospital Attavar.

For in-patient billing, there is a 25% concession (General Ward) on the In Patient bill (excluding consumables) for any number of times during the year at KMC Hospital, Attavar. A 50% discount on normal and caesarean delivery in the General Ward is also given. There is also a 5% additional discount for senior citizens (excluding consumables) in the General Ward at KMC Hospital, Attavar.

Benefits of the scheme at the OPDs of KMC Hospital, Dr B R Ambedkar (Jyothi) Circle: Consultations with any specialist/super specialist doctor any number of times during the year at 50%. There is a flat 25% discount on Laboratory investigations done at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle. For CT/MRI/Ultrasound there is a 20% discount (Emergency pick up by MARS Ambulance with no cost for the radius of 20 km) at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle. In addition to OP procedure, there is a flat discount of 10% at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar circle. There is also a 25% discount on Health check packages and diabetic clinic at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle. In addition, there is a 5% discount on evening clinic and 10% discount on diabetic foot management at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle.

For in-patient billing, there is 10% concession in the General Ward on in-patient bill (excluding consumables) for any number of times during the year at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle. There is also a 20% discount on admission charges, bed and nursing charges and 10% discount on surgeries at Ultra wards (Semi pvt, Semi Spl & Spl) at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar circle. There is also a 5% additional discount for senior citizens (excluding consumables) the General Ward at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle”.

There will be up to 10% rebate on Out Patient medicines purchased from KMC Hospital, Attavar and KMC Hospital Ambedkar Circle.
